To the manager and staff...

On Sunday 3rd April 2016 my husband, some friends of ours and myself attended your restaurant for the first time. We are quite experienced and travelled foodies and have ventured through most of Australia seeking out great restaurants, spectacular food and great experiences. We just wanted to let you know... You delivered!

On arrival we were greeted by a charismatic young guy (closely shaved head with reddish brown beard) and a lovely young woman (Asian decent? - gosh I hope that's not offensive) I do wish I had  their names! Their greeting was a warm, confident and smiley one, which is super refreshing as good service with a smile is hard to come by!

We were in awe of the stunning decor, the whaling ship bar was mesmerisingly beautiful and the ambiance the old engine fireplace created was spectacular and impressive.

The menu! Wow. Congratulations to whoever constructed it! Although it only consists of a small selection, the variety caters for all dietary requirements, tastes and fussy pains in the backsides! That's a very difficult feat and fine science but you nailed it! Needless to say we were extremely impressed and appreciative of your staff's knowledge of the dishes; with their cool confidence they guided us on our wonderful food adventure and we are eternally grateful.

The speedy time that the dishes were presented before us did not mean we missed out on quality presentation or quality food; we had a smorgasbord of delicacies laid out before us that tantalised each and every sense, a relief for we four hungry hippos after a long weekend of racing at the Mount Alma Hill Climb!

Your chef and waiters have mastered the fine art of timing, our mains were presented perfectly as our appetisers were calmly settled and our stomachs excitedly anticipating what would come next, and you did not disappoint! Although I committed a culinary felony by requesting an over done steak (your chef may still be in counselling, and for that I deeply apologise, though I am pregnant and trying to avoid mad cow disease, for the sake of my unborn child's health and my husband, whom thinks I am quite difficult enough) the meals were all served together without any delay and they were mighty delicious! It's not easy to over cook a steak and serve anything other than boot leather, but mine was juicy and delicious, a welcomed and greatly appreciated effort!

We decided, "why walk when you can roll?” and braved desert, though ridiculously full we ordered a range of your delicious deserts and were more than pleased with the results, though we did have to avoid all sharp edges on our way out for fear of bursting.

Your staff remained vibrant, funny and helpful throughout the entire stint and we could clearly see that they thoroughly enjoy working in such a wonderful restaurant. We could not fault a single thing! You’ve really got it all, atmosphere, service, presentation, downright delicious quality food, great staff and some extremely happy customers! We will most certainly be coming back whenever we get the opportunity!

As I mentioned before, we’ve travelled much of this great country and dined in many of the finest restaurants around; and we know as business owners and managers that a little appreciation can go a long way. You and your staff deserve enormous commendations and we’d greatly appreciate if you could pass this on to those on shift that night.

Today my Mother and I set out to celebrate a belated Mothers Day. Lunch was the plan and we chose to eat at the Anchorage Hotel for the first time as mum has recently moved to Victor Harbour.

Upon walking into the Anchorage to place my order, i was delighted with the look, the feel and the atmosphere within the hotel, the staff were real alive people, switched on with smiles, personality, care factor and what appeared to me to be high standards......... what a pleasure.

I was reluctant to order garlic bread because most times elsewhere its crappy and average. I asked the lady taking my order, is your garlic bread any good here, she said yes. After having ordered and tasted......... your garlic bread is top of the list in my opinion, I loved it and it was super tasty. I ordered the beef burger .................... mmmmmmmmmmmmm, so good. Mum had the open yiros plate, she said it was nice.

You know, every day chefs might turn out the same dish fifty times over but for the person about to eat that meal, they see it with fresh eyes and tough scrutiny. Your food still tasted like it was made and prepared with love and for that I thank you for making my eating experience at your hotel a very pleasurable one.
